Epping Green Chapel's "Creativity" Art Exhibition on the 13th October 2012 was a great success! We had plenty of people coming to view the exhibiting artists work. There was plenty of variety represented, and we were pleased to play host to such great work!

A Right Royal Celebration!

Michael Chapman, deputy to the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, representative of the Queen, opened a year of celebration at the local Church in Epping Green by unveiling a specially commissioned 150^th anniversary stained glass window. Mr Chapman wearing full military uniform , including ceremonial sword, unveiled the colourful “Good Shepherd” window , which measures a massive 7ft tall by 6ft wide . The window looks out over the village pond and road. The window was designed by chapel member and villager Mary Deacon and made by local company Tenby and Penny.

The standing room only event also had guest speaker Peter Kerridge CEO of PREMIER CHRISTIAN RADIO and a presentation was made to 91 year old church organist George McGowan , born in Epping Green village and retiring from playing after 74 years!

Church Minister Rev Paul Walker, 55, said “George , along with his late wife Doris , has been a  pillar in the life of the Chapel . Almost 200 years ago another local couple were so concerned there was no place of worship in the village they felt God calling them to be involved in founding one!  In the 1820’s a cottage chapel was opened and then in 1862 the NEW church was built. 150 years later Epping Green Chapel continues to be a thriving place of worship and centre for activities within the community. Founded as a Church for all, the current congregation is made up of young and old and of people from many church backgrounds - C of E , Catholic  , Free Church ,plus people who have had no past church affiliation. We hope the commissioning of the colourful “Good Shepherd” window will be a bright new landmark to travellers and a sign of welcome for another 150 years!".

George McGowan, Epping Green Chapel's Organist Retires

Epping Green Chapel's very own organist George McGowan has made it into the Guardian Gazette!

The newspaper was impressed with his incredible 74 years of organ playing, and George, who has announced his retirement from the service, was given a feature by them. 

George is a valuable member of our church community, and we have highly enjoyed having him as our church organist for all this time. We thank him for all of his hard work and dedication, and am glad that he will be continuing to attend the Church services every Sunday.

Free "Creativity" Art Exhibition at Epping Green Chapel!

Epping Green Chapel will be host to an FREE art exhibition/gallery on the 13th October 2012.

Entitled "Creativity", the gallery will host the art of five artists-John Carrol, Julia Cole, Mary Deacon, John Guichard and Lewis Terry.

We urge you to pop on down to the chapel and check out the art that is on offer! We're featuring artists who cover a wide range of mediums, so if you're after an art exhibition that offers plenty of variety...well, you've got it!

Stigma of Faith

Sadly in today's society there is a lot of stigma targeted at those who have faith.  Some who have spoken their faith in the workplace, or refused to work against their conscience have been unfairly treated in the workplace. Spend some time to show them some support.

"Father, please allow for those that speak your word and act according to your will, to not be discouraged by unbelievers and those that do not have faith.  May you give them the strength to persevere. Please give them the willpower to be wise in their decisions and guide them onto the right path. Amen."

Turn on the Tap!

We as a Church love supporting good causes, especially when it involves raising money to benefit those who perhaps are less fortunate than ourselves. 

A great charity project is currently underway under Samaritans Purse International Relief. 

"Turn on the Tap" urges those who buy these charity-branded bottles of water to donate money to give clean water to children in Africa. Once the water has been consumed, people are urged to fill the empty bottle with their spare change. Once it is full up with coins, simply count up the amount and send your donation in a cheque made payable to Samaritans Purse. 

All cheque donations should be sent to Victoria House, Victoria Road, Buckhurst Hill, Essex, 1G9 5EX. Alternatively, please visit http://www.turnonthetap.org.uk to pledge a donation towards this cause.

It does not take a lot of money to provide better facilities for these children! For example:

-£9 could train a villager in Mozambique to maintain the communities well or borehole.

- £36 could provide a family in Niger with a latrine.

-£48 could provide a family in Uganda with a biosand water filter.

-£500 could repair a non-functioning borehole for a village in Mozambique. 

Interested in donating some spare cash to this project? Great! As stated before, all the details can be found via the website, http://www.turnonthetap.org.uk or get hold of one of the water bottles to start saving! 

Perhaps you may be able to rope in some willing friends, fellow church goers or family to contribute to? The more the merrier, especially when you are aware that by doing this, you are greatly improving the lives of people less fortunate them yourselves.
